Harvest Festival

Harvest Festival

June 22, 2021

For farming communities, one of the most important festivals of the year is the Harvest Festival. In the east Malaysian states of Sabah and Sarawak, where celebrations can last a whole month, this is normally a period of homecoming and visits by friends and travellers keen to experience the rich culture of the many ethnic groups that make up the rich fabric of the country.

This year, although COVID-19 restrictions mean we cannot celebrate in person, it should not deter us from celebrating and marking the occasion in other ways. Let us recommend some products you can purchase to celebrate this year’s Harvest Festival. Did we mention that we have FREE DELIVERIES within Malaysia too?

Bario Asal

Bario is the fertile highlands of Sarawak where the Kelabit people have been cultivating high-quality grains for generations, in particular, its famous rice. Bario Asal or “Originated from Bario” is a social enterprise that markets a variety of high quality produce and craft products from the Kelabit community. Whether it is a special ingredient to spice up your cooking or an accessory to add colour to your outfit, you can’t go wrong with one of their products.
